Textiles & Tar Heels Heritage Celebration
Special Guest: Mrs. Lynn Gorges, renowned quilt and textile preservationist, will provide a presentation/workshop on the history of plaid quilts. Living history demonstrations, special exhibits celebrating the 100th Anniversary of Burlington Industries, and Student Scavenger Hunt are some of the activities we will celebrate our textile heritage in Historic Glencoe.

This will be a wonderful opportunity for visitors to view the interior of some of these historic homes and enjoy the Historic Glencoe Mill Village for the day. Exact times and Ticket pricing are on the way, but SAVE THE DATE!

In April 1882, Glencoe Mills began production and sales of its first beautiful plaid fabrics. The mill operated for more than 70 years closing in 1954.
On March 24, 2004, the Textile Heritage Museum opened celebrating the preservation and education of early textile heritage of North Carolina.

SAR Glencoe Exhibit of Patriotic Artwork
May 2-6, 2022 • 10am-5pm
Sons of the American Revolution Alamance Battleground Chapter presents: An Exhibit of Patriotic Artwork of Local Elementary School Students in the annual Statewide and National Competition. The exhibit will be displayed in the Textile Heritage Museum and Alamance Parks Visitor Lobby during business hours.
140th Anniversary of Glencoe Mills
Held Saturday, April 30, 2022 • 10am-5pm
Celebrate with us the beginnings of one of the early textile mills in North Carolina. We will have artisans (weavers, potters, painters and more), a variety of children’s games, museum and house tours, living historians, live music, and the Preservation Burlington Salvage Store will be open! Food will be available from Danny’s Cafe Food Truck. Special guests include the famed Tooth Fairy in Disguise and Socksquatch, the team mascot of the Burlington Sockpuppets. Join us!
Christmas Caroling in Historic Glencoe
Held December 2, 2021 • 6-8pm
Join us in Historic Glencoe at the Textile Heritage Museum as we celebrate Christmas with Caroling by students and faculty of Alamance Community College.
Hot Cocoa & Treats will be served! Coloring Books will be given to the first 100 children who stop by the museum.

Five gifts of $10 will be awarded to finalists, and the top winner will receive $50 and recognition for their art on display for auction in April 2021, where the proceeds will go to the Textile Heritage Museum. Glencoe by Candlelight
Held December 18 & 19, 2020
Join us to celebrate Christmas in historic Glencoe!
Follow one of our costumed interpreters on a candlelight tour of the village and enjoy historic Christmas treats, decorations, and traditions. Tours will be held at 6:00 and 7:00pm and are capped at 10 participants each. You can reserve a tour space for $5 per person by emailing textileheritagemuseum@gmail.com or by calling 336-270-6374. Tours will last approximately one hour.
Christmas in Glencoe 2020
Held December 8-23, 2020, Tuesday-Saturday, 9am-5pm (Closed December 24-26)
Enjoy the Christmas holiday decorations inside the museum and throughout the village. Special exhibits will include early-mid 1900’s Christmas trees, wreaths, and other holiday décor with a special unique collection of antique metal toys from the Mike Harris Collection.

A Tribute to America's Military (Uniform & Memorabilia Exhibit)
In remembrance and honor of our American soldiers we had a splendid exhibit of original uniforms and equipment representing most of the wars the United States has been involved in throughout its military history. Combat and dress uniforms ranging from the American Revolution to World War II, and from the Korean War to our more modern conflicts in the Middle East were represented. We also had a unique American Red Cross uniform which belonged to Barbara Janet Smelker, a devoted humanitarian, who served with the Red Cross throughout her life following her support during the Korean War.
American Jazz in Glencoe

A Tribute to The American Military
Held Wednesday, June 5, 2019 Reception and Speaking Engagement at the Textile Heritage Museum In Remembrance of Memorial Day & The 75th Anniversary of D-Day (June 6, 1944)
We pay tribute to the American Soldier with a new military exhibit (on exhibit through August 31, 2019) and a special guest:
Colonel Norman A. McDaniel, USAF (Retired). Colonel McDaniel served in the Vietnam War and was a prisoner of war for 7 years.

2018 Glencoe Home Christmas Tour
Our annual Glencoe Home Christmas Tour allows visitors to see firsthand the renovations and work that went into restoring our mill village. Visitors are guided through the museum and village as homeowners tell the history of their homes as well as their own personal stories of coming to the village. Food and drink, antique cars, weaving demonstrations, and live music are also offered.
